President Donald Trump remains in “excellent health” and is “fully fit” to carry out presidential duties, according to a medical report released Friday following a comprehensive examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Dr. Sean Barbabella, the White House physician, conducted an extensive evaluation involving 22 medical specialists. The assessment included CT scans, cardiac imaging, cancer screenings, and preventative health evaluations.
What the Examination Found
Trump weighed 238 pounds during the exam, up 14 pounds from his April 2025 physical. At 6 feet, 3 inches tall, his body mass index measured 29.7, just below the 30 threshold that medical guidelines classify as obese.
Physicians documented minor bruising on Trump’s hands, which they attributed to “frequent handshaking” and aspirin therapy. The report recommended a switch to low-dose aspirin and lifestyle adjustments regarding diet and physical activity.
Trump’s cholesterol levels showed significant improvement, with total cholesterol at 143 compared to 223 in 2018. Doctors credited medications including rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for the decline in LDL cholesterol levels.
Cognitive and Physical Performance
Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a standard screening tool for cognitive impairment and dementia. This matched results from his 2025 and 2018 examinations.
Barbabella wrote that Trump “demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical health, with no abnormal findings identified.” The physician noted that Trump’s demanding schedule, including multiple meetings and public engagements, continues to support his overall well-being.
The White House disclosed that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency, a common age-related condition causing blood pooling in the legs. His latest examination showed slight lower-leg swelling but noted improvement since the previous year’s evaluation.
Context and Timing
This marks the fourth publicly disclosed medical evaluation since Trump returned to office for his second term. The release occurs as the administration heads into a critical midterm election cycle.
Trump, who turns 80 next month, was the oldest person ever elected president. His predecessor, President Joe Biden, left office at age 82 after ending his 2024 reelection campaign following concerns about his age and fitness for another term.
